We are currently all making jewellery for the market stall which we run every other Thursday. Although the Internet site is still important to us, we have been experimenting with this market stall for a while now as an additional means of bringing money back into the project, enabling us to invest in new areas of interest and also increase public awareness of the project.

I am Turning Point’s E Communications Officer and responsible for maintaining both the main Turning Point website and the blog. My visit to the Internet Project in Hemel Hempstead has been a long time coming. I originally got involved with the project back in January when I was asked what I knew about online shopping. Quite a lot actually, I thought. The majority of my film and music collection have been bought online – I had even bought my girlfriend a pair of shoes. But as for setting one up so that service users could sell items they had made; that was a different story. Continue reading Watching stepping stones work

When the group arrived yesterday we were excited to see that there were 2 orders from the shop over the weekend. Its working and people can see it.
The 5 of us then got to work. We created more Christmas cards and earrings. We now have 8 Christmas designs and 8 earring designs to be uploaded to the site. We took photographs of the cards and jewellery and made descriptions of these so that the information and pictures can be put on the shop this week. We arrived today to find out that the shop had been published live on the internet late last night. For the first time our shop can now be seen by everybody and can be accessed through the website for the Hertfordshire mental health services. This has given us a great sense of achievement and an extra boost as it is now really happening.
We are also selling the new Dual Diagnosis Good Practice Handbook for Turning Point. Continue reading Live at last!

This week 4 people attended the group. During the morning we spent time testing the eShop and checking that all of the site worked properly. We noted all the changes that were needed and emailed the website designer with these so that the site could be updated and amended. It was really interesting to use the shop like a customer will and to see which bits needed to change so that the whole shop would work well. Continue reading Almost ready to launch

One member of the group created a Turning Point word search which was passed around the group for members to have a go at. This was very popular with the rest of the group and we are now thinking about whether we could make a small booklet of puzzles. Continue reading Designing new items
